GOD'S HEART BEATS

1 Timothy 1:1-11 (NIV)

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,

2 To Timothy my true son in the faith:

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

Timothy is warned against false teachers.

3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command
certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer

4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work- which is by faith.

5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

6 Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk.

7 They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

8 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.

9 We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,

10 for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers- and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

11 that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

Now the Bereans were of noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
~Acts 17:11 (NIV)

When i was new in the faith (in 2000) i had attended this bible study and the teacher (Kuya Kiko) had mentioned this verse in Acts 17:11. And recently someone named deeper had inspired me to go back to this verse and go deeper in the Word of God to seek God's instructions and guidance on how to live out this verse on a daily (i'm trying hard) basis. One of my training in the bible school was to observe a preacher at a church that claimed he was a prophet that God sent. Whoah!..... that was quite an experience for me to see- a false teacher using the Word of God to minister to a big crowd of people. I never thought i would ever see anything drastic like that in my whole life. The saddest thing was that this preacher had a crowd of followers (men, women, and children) and they were so caught up or led astray in his false teachings. Beware of those kind of preachers- the false ones!!!!

put in water in a clear glass and how does it look? Pure! but mix it with a dark colored ink and how does it look? Dirty! The church of Jesus pure as it is can be infected by people claiming to be godly yet speaking lies and using scriptures, from the time of Paul as he dealt with groups like the Gnostics and Judaiesers who taught falsely yet claiming to be godly to people coming from emerging persuasions in our present new testament setting. Indeed we ought to be wary of such theologies. Lady Warrior, I can't even begin to thank you for how you have encouraged me. I have an unspoken prayer request to ask from you as i struggle daily to please and serve my Master remember me always in your prayers.

a clear glass with water poured in it looks pure right? well, take the same glass and pour a little dark colored soda and the clear looking water inside the glass isn't so pure anymore, right? It's the same with the church, pure as it is can however be infected by false teaching of men claiming to be godly albeit the ungodly way of twisting the scriptures. Paul had to deal with it during his time the likes of men of the gnostic persuasion and men calling the JUDAISERS (Colossians and Galatians). Today, the church is going through the same threat with theology coming from post modern thinking that are blended into the evangelical movement. We must continue to be vigilant. Lady Warrior, thank you for your continued encouragement and please continue to remember me as i go through the daily battles and struggles of life in my pursuit to please and serve my God.
